Temporary Registered Nurse - Operating Room

 4-8 Week Assignment - 2 Shifts Per Week

Position Responsibilities:

Our OR nurses play an essential role in providing the best in surgical services and are committed to excellence, safety, compassion and results driven care.  With our state-of-the-art surgical tower, our Perioperative Services team comprises of renowned surgeons who rank top in the nation in cardiovascular care and robust surgical service lines.

  • The OR nurse obtains new physician orders within two hours of initiation for routine and within 30 minutes or less for stat.
  • Prepares patient for invasive and/or non-invasive medical procedures ensuring universal protocol compliance.
  • Scrubs and circulates throughout various service lines of the OR.
  • Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition.
  • Understands and is able to administer medication per physicians’ orders adhering to the hospital approved patient identifiers following the 5 rights of patient medication administration.
  • Follows Patient Safety goals as established by the department; supports effective responses to adverse and sentinel events; provides an on-going proactive approach to reduce risk; integrates patient safety as a priority into new and existing processes.
  • Obtains and documents a complete nursing admission assessment including physiological and psychological factors to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care within eight hours of admission.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include a current/valid FL RN Licensure. 
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. ASN required. BSN preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience scrubbing and circulating through various service lines.  CNOR certification highly beneficial.
