  • Assesses patient nursing care needs and prepares and carries out a nursing care plan.

  • Monitor and evaluate patient on specific drips e.g. Diprivan, Vasopressors, Paralytics etc.

  • Monitor, evaluate, document patient on Continous Renal Replacement Therapy

  • Administers internal feedings via ng tube, gastrostomy tube, and/or jejunostomy tube.

  • Conducts staff meetings (at least 2 per year) in collaboration with Unit Director.

  • Assists Director with scheduling and assures accuracy of daily schedule sheets.                                                                                                                  

  • Obtains and documents a complete nursing admission assessment, including physiological and psychological factors to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care within eight hours of admission.

  • Responsible for observing symptoms and carrying out diagnostic procedures ordered by the physician.

  • Prepares and applies dressings, gives medication and nursing and therapeutic treatment as prescribed by physicians.

  • Instructs patient or members of patient’s family in regard to patient’s diet, health habits, the carrying out of treatments at home and rehabilitative measures as authorized by the physician.

  • Performs related inservices for patients in the prevention of illness and the attainment of maximum health.

  • Makes contacts with appropriate social services or health agencies as necessary to assure patient needed services or follow-up care.

  • Maintains a variety of records and prepares reports.

  • Incumbent may provide care and/or treatment to patients as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current License in the State of Florida.
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • CCRN certification beneficial
  • BSN preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in area of critical care. Prior charge nurse experience is beneficial.
