Phlebotomist 

 Night shift - 10PM-6:30AM with alternative weekends 

Evening Shift - 1PM-9:30PM with alternative weekends

Job Description:

Displays good venipuncture technique, rarely misses a vein on any patient. Collect specimens in appropriate containers paying strict attention to mixing and order of draw.

  • Communicates at shift change and follows through on pending specimens.
  • Determines specimen priority and take action accordingly.
  • Always identifies the patient correctly, verifying ID band information against the test request prior to collecting the specimen.
  • Draws Blood Bank specimens appropriately utilizing the Typenex band with 100% accuracy.
  • Displays good venipuncture technique.
  • Displays good micro collection technique.
  • Display good blood culture collection technique.
  • Labels specimens correctly with all of the appropriate requisition information to include initials, time and date of collection immediately after collection.
  • Collect specimens in appropriate containers paying strict attention to mixing and order of draw. 
  • Match collection lists with test requests to ensure completion of scheduled tests.
  • Verifies specimens receipt in the computer system. Orders and cancel test as needed.
  • Release confidential patient information appropriately by phone or facsimile per department guidelines.
  • Charts summary reports in patients' medical record.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of training program in venipuncture or medical assistant
  • High School Diploma
  • 2+ years of prior venipuncture experience in lab or hospital
  •  Night shift - 10PM-6:30AM with alternative weekends
